(a) What if someone already missed the correct time for the check for chametz (done as a preparation for Pesach)? [Request "Halacha Sources" discussion]

The Shulchan Aruch writes (put simply): Then he checks on the morning of the fourteenth [of Nissan], whenever he remembers. If he didn't then, then he checks on Pesach itself. If he didn't then, then he checks after Pesach, so that he will not derive benefit from any chametz which he may have owned on Pesach.
